 What is the effective date of gst for composition manufacturer as it reduced from 2% to 1% by 1/2018 notification. Its retrospective change or from the date of notification.

Answer:

 Basic Notification No. 8/2017-Central Tax is amended by  Notification No. 1/2018- Central Tax dt. 01.01.2018 This notification has come into force W. E. F 1 Jan 18. 

So any transaction taken place on or after this date is to be taxed as per the the reduced rate  of 1%.

The amendment is prospective and not retrospective. .(REPLY dt. 29/1/2018)
