Question2: We have taken registration
under GST for providing rental services to a person situated in another state as
interstate services and such services are below Rs. 20 L. Can we surrender our
GST registration now'
Answer: As per provisions of Section 24 of CGST Act, 2017 a person making
inter-state taxable supply is to be compulsorily registered under GST. However,
as Notification No. 10/2017-Integrated Tax dated 13.10.2017 persons making
inter-State supplies of taxable services and having an aggregate turnover, to be
computed on all India basis, not exceeding an amount of twenty lakh rupees in a
financial year are exempted from obtaining registration under the said Act.
Accordingly, as you are having turn over less than Rs 20 Lakh you can surrender
your registration if you do not wish to remain under GST regime. Please note
that if the registration is not surrendered then you have to pay tax and to
comply other requirements as applicable (Reply dt. 14/11/2017)
